Gigging 3-4 nights a week in Appalachia, I put in a lot of miles on the road. I was based in East Tennessee and would play shows in Northern North Carolina on up to Southern Virginia, generally following a 2-3 hour radius.
I love driving through the hills and valleys and all the twisty, windy mountain roads, and of course have my favorite stretches, like Hwy 70 from Greeneville to Asheville and Hwy 91 to Kingsport.
I lived right next to the tracks and although I sleep through it at night, I find the sound of the train comforting. It reminds me of the bigger picture in life.
